Why Metabolism Matters

by Tom Lunneborg on March 16, 2011

Right now, in every single cell of your body, there are millions of chemical reactions taking place. It’s what scientists call metabolism, and it affects everything from your energy level to your mood to how fast your heart is beating at this very moment.

These chemical reactions allow us to grow and develop. They help us build endurance and strength. They protect us from harsh environments and all the stress we put our bodies through. They even affect our appetite, our weight, and our motivation.

The millions of chemical reactions happen so fast that it’s hard to capture them at work. In fact, there are so many reactions going on that scientists discover new ones all the time.

To get a sense of how interconnected these reactions are, it helps to imagine your body as a clock tower, and every chemical reaction is a cog. There are millions of these cogs, all of them spinning together. Some of them are large, some are small. Some cogs are spinning rapidly, others are super slow, yet all of them mesh together perfectly.

Now imagine if just one thing goes wrong. Imagine if you’re just a little short on vitamin B6 or vitamin D. Maybe your body can adapt for a brief period, but soon some of those chemical reactions stop.

It’s like one or two small cogs losing their teeth. Sure, the clock still works, but it’s not working as well as it can. Maybe the second hand is slowing down a bit, or maybe one of the bells doesn’t ring exactly when it’s supposed to.

But this breakdown is going to have cascading effects. Soon it takes your body even more effort to keep the cogs spinning, and you might start to notice the difference.

You get tired.

You get irritable.

You don’t really feel like going out or doing things.

Maybe you get sick easier, or your skin doesn’t feel as smooth.

By now that one small change is starting to have big-time effects. If you’re one of those people who’s always on the go, or if you’re an athlete, or even if you have a tough job that takes a lot out of you mentally or physically, you can’t afford to have a single busted cog.

That’s why Life Shotz is such a fantastic product. We created Life Shotz so that it would use cellular transporters to drive key metabolic enzymes deep into your cells. It includes the vitamins and minerals that your body most often lacks. Best of all, we don’t use any of the preservatives, sugars, or chemicals that throw off your body’s metabolism.

Use and share Life Shotz to make sure every cog in your system is spinning at its best. It’s your way to feel and look better.

Are You One of the Walking Wired?

by Tom Lunneborg on March 9, 2011

The best part of waking up is ….

Did you finish that marketing jingle?

Folgers Coffee first coined that jingle 27 years ago in 1984, but their marketing of coffee started back in 1850—over 160 years ago!

Coffee has been a breakfast staple for centuries. Even as far back as the Stone Age people chewed on seeds, bark, or leaves of certain plants containing caffeine. The almost immediate benefits are remarkable. Caffeine raises alertness, increases focus, and provides faster thought and better coordination after just a small amount. And when it was just one cup, starting the day with a cup of Joe was just fine.

Fast forward to today. Caffeine is abused beyond sane limits. This legal, psychoactive stimulant isn’t just for breakfast. In fact, new markets have been created around it, and overconsumption is normal and completely socially acceptable. It’s even popular with kids.

Our body develops a tolerance for caffeine after continued use. This means that more caffeine is required to create the same reactions. Marketers and manufacturers of caffeinated products know this well. The common cup of coffee in the 1950s was eight ounces … hence the name “cup.” Today a cup of coffee is 16 ounces. Grande has become the new cup. Along with coffee, caffeinated colas’ serving sizes continued to grow over the years. Originally a bottle of Coke was six ounces, and it was considered a treat. Today the standard bottle of Coke is 24 ounces and many people consume at least one at every meal.

Despite huge increases in caffeine consumption, beverage makers and marketers believed that these traditional drinks weren’t enough, so they created a new niche: the energy drink market. Hundreds of new, gotta-have-it “rocket fuels” burst onto the scene, and they were marketed as the energy solution to many of the problems caused by our caffeine overload. Each new drink promised insane, superhero results based on supersized doses of caffeine and other drugs. Soon it was popular to mix alcohol (a depressant) with these heavily caffeinated drinks. It’s a potentially lethal combination.

The next “on fire” market is the two-ounce shot market. Now people simply don’t have time for coffee or a full can of an energy drink. They need a larger jolt of caffeine in a two-ounce shot. These shots are sold in packs of four, and all four are supposed to be taken in one day. It’s as close to concentrated drugs as you can get.

Our systems are overloaded!

Chew on this … if caffeine were discovered today, it would not be permitted in dietary supplements or foods. It would be classified as a drug.

So what should we do? Moderation. Nutrition. Rest.

Those are three words to live by. When moderate intake is combined with great nutrition through diet and supplements and ample rest, caffeine is a wonderful ingredient. Enjoying a great cup of coffee or a cola is a treat and will provide a beneficial jump start. But if it is abused and used as a substitute for nutrition and rest, it will wreak havoc on our health.

Natural energy is not found in caffeine—that’s why it’s classified as a stimulant. Natural energy is found in nutrition. That nutrition is found in Life Shotz. We know because we put it there.

So if you are one of the walking wired, cut back. Don’t stop completely, but cut back and substitute Life Shotz, nutrition, and rest. You will be amazed at how good you feel.

I Feel It in My Bones

by Tom Lunneborg on February 10, 2011

We are on the verge of greatness. We are feeling the energy in the field and witnessing the success of Life Shotz every day. Do you read the stories and press releases? Have you checked our testimonial page lately? Things are starting to roll. I feel it in my bones. Can you feel it?

Our skeletal system is the framework for our body. We all know the importance of this system as soon as any one of the 206 bones in this frame is broken. We can’t even perform everyday tasks until the broken bone heals.

The National Osteoporosis Foundation estimates that 55% of people 50 years or older have low bone density and are at risk of osteoporosis. But that doesn’t mean ignore this message if you are under 50! Starting a lifestyle of supplements and exercise in our teenage years will keep our frame strong.

Did you know that your entire skeletal system is replaced about every seven years? Our bones are constantly remodeling. Cells called osteoclasts break down bone tissue during a process called resorption, and cells called osteoblasts build the bones back up. Our bone density reaches its peak around age 25. In our 30s the breakdown portion starts to outpace the reformation. This aging process is natural, but we can do something to maintain our strong frame.

Calcium is probably the first thing that comes to mind. While it’s true that calcium plays a big role in strong bones, it cannot work alone. Vitamin D is required to direct the calcium to our bones. Think of Vitamin D as the traffic cop that directs cars where to go. If you remove the traffic cop, the cars get all tangled up and take longer to reach their destination … if they reach it all.

Magnesium is also required for healthy, strong bones. This mineral works with calcium to improve bone density. It just so happens that the majority of us are deficient in vitamin D and magnesium. Yet, on average, we consume good amounts of calcium.

Weight bearing exercises are very important to building and maintaining strong bones. Our body must adapt to the physical stress we put on it. Bones will be built up stronger when they are regularly stressed. Simply climbing several flights of stairs instead of using the elevator will help keep our leg bones strong. Resistance exercise is excellent for bone strengthening, too. You don’t need to lift heavy weights. A simple elastic resistance band can be used to perform all exercises safely.

Supplementing daily with Life Shotz and calcium will give our body the fuel it needs to maintain strong healthy bones. Partner those supplements with a simple exercise routine and you’ll maintain a powerful frame!

Get moving and supplement with Life Shotz daily, and share this blog! Part of our mission at 21TEN is to bring important health education to everyone. This information will improve the quality of your health and everyone you share it with.

Your work and your company make a difference

by Tom Lunneborg on November 19, 2010

Hey Everyone!

Life Shotz offers so many healthful benefits that it’s hard to know where to start. The crashless energy? The improved mood? The immune support? The age-defying formula? They’re all fantastic and make your life better.

But there’s more.

One of the features that’s critical to understanding Life Shotz is a feature that proved crucial during the product development stage. In fact, it’s more than a feature. It’s a worldview that influences everything we do at 21TEN.

What is it?

It’s our environmental focus. When we read stories like this one in the San Francisco Appeal, it’s clear that we have to do something. Our oceans are filling with garbage, and most of it is plastic. And this article is about just one “garbage patch” in the North Pacific. There are patches—some of them twice as large as Texas—in every corner of the ocean.

And we may not notice them now because they’re hundreds of miles out to sea, but what about five years from now? Or ten years? How much plastic has to wash up on our beaches before we take action?

Life Shotz is part of the solution. Did you know that Life Shotz is packaged with no plastic at all? The box is made from post-consumer cardboard that’s forest-friendly. The glues are biodegradable. The inks are water-based and made from vegetables. Even the packets that contain the powder are made from foil, not plastic. And we even encourage people to drink from reusable stainless steel bottles.

People might say it’s only a small difference, but is it really? Is better energy a small difference? Not if you can spend that energy with your family. Is feeling good in the morning a small difference? Definitely not if it means you get more done at home or at work. Is protecting the oceans a small difference? No way.

Together we can make a big difference, which is why it’s important to choose Life Shotz for yourself and your world.

Fighting back against cold and flu

by Tom Lunneborg on October 4, 2010

Fall is upon us, and I still cannot figure out where summer went. The hot summer days in the northwest are turning into cool, crisp mornings. The leaves are changing and fall colors are arriving.

This seasonal change may not be as noticeable where you live. The calendar, however, shows us that we are heading into cold and flu season, and we all try to avoid the new bug. When I say we try to avoid catching it, what does that really mean to you? Could I simply substitute the word hope for try? Millions of us each year simply hope we don’t get sick.

This year is different. This year 21TENers have a leg up. All of you who supplement daily with Life Shotz have been supporting your immune system with vital nutrients. Nutrients like Vitamin D, zinc and N-acetylcystiene (NAC) support a healthy immune system. They also happen to be deficient in people who, do not supplement. We’ve beaten the drum on vitamin D, now let’s go a little bit deeper with NAC.

NAC is an amino acid. It functions as an antioxidant and detoxifier, and it works very well at breaking down mucus buildup in our lungs. This nutrient is a natural powerhouse during cold and flu season.

As an antioxidant, NAC is a precursor to glutathione. Glutathione is an antioxidant our body manufactures. Known as the first level of defense or a primary antioxidant, glutathione detoxifies chemicals in our body into less harmful compounds and neutralizes free radicals. In short, glutathione is extremely important to maintain a healthy immune system.

As a detoxifier NAC helps our body remove heavy metals from the body like lead, mercury, and arsenic. We are exposed and consume trace amounts of heavy metals without ever knowing it. Over time, a buildup of heavy metals will depress our immune system and set us up for disaster. NAC helps our body protect itself.

The last key function of NAC is its mucus-breaking properties. Remember back to when you had a nagging cough with mucus buildup or congestion in your lungs? Remember how the cough just seemed to hang around forever? You may have felt like the cold was gone, but that cough and congestion wouldn’t go away. NAC breaks down mucoproteins in mucus and helps thin the mucus. This means that the nagging cough might be chased off much quicker.

No dietary supplement or drug product that will make us immune to the cold and flu viruses. Yet we can exponentially improve our chances of staying healthy by just a few simple steps.

  1. Take Life Shotz daily.
  2. Wash your hands often. (Only 25% of guys wash their hands after using the bathroom! Come on guys!)
  3. Get at least 30 minutes of exercise per day.
  4. Eat a healthy diet.

This cold and flu season, be the person who’s always asked, “Hey, how come you haven’t been sick?” Then introduce the person who asked the question to Life Shotz.

To Your Health,

Tom
