Imagine the fate of our society if we all settled for “good enough” instead of reaching for excellence. It’s not a pretty picture.
Now think of all the people who don’t settle, and think about how they have changed the world: Warren Buffet, Jackie Robinson, the teacher you had that made a huge difference, the people in your life who never gave up, the parents who wanted you to a have a more comfortable life than they had.
Like them, we all have the power to better ourselves day by day. We can study a little every day, either by reading, watching, or listening to something that will help us take better care of ourselves and our future. We can surround ourselves with great people. We can join great companies. Even the smallest steps can quickly compound into vast improvements.
Committing to daily improvement is more than a New Year’s resolution, however. This is a real commitment to your core values, and it should happen year round. The Japanese call it Kaizen or “constant improvement,” and as you look to 2011 and beyond, it’s time to decide what you need to do for yourself to make sure you don’t settle, fall into a rut, or let opportunities pass you by.
The new year is going to be a fantastic one at 21TEN. Already we see amazing growth from our leaders around the country, and it’s phenomenal to see people planting the seeds of future wealth, freedom, and opportunity.
And look at what we’ve already done. Huge, free, unsolicited endorsements from sports giants E.K. Gaylord and Phil Jackson. A phenomenal launch party. An amazing cruise with memories that will last a lifetime. Great giveaways. And the family: the people in 21TEN are a cut above the rest, and it is an honor to work with all of you as we make the world a better, greener, and healthier place.
Today is the day commit to constant improvement. Start asking yourself what you can do.
- Can I commit to spending at least 30 minutes a day on personal development?
- Can I connect more with my leaders and team?
- Can I tell my story with honesty, conviction, and energy?
- Can I talk to more people and ask them to just “take a look”?
- Can I update my current vision?
- Can I do the work that will make my vision a reality?
Now is the time to write the story of your future freedom and to take the daily steps that will get you what you most desire. And then all you have to do is hold on to being the best you can be.
Happy New Year’s, and may 2011 be your best year yet!
